You will reap the benefits of massage if it becomes a regular part of your life. My goal is for us to work together to take better care of your health in the long-term. By working together to address the issues you are currently having, I will also build in preventative therapeutic work as well. Creating a regular treatment schedule helps you become more grounded and ahead of the curve in regards to your overall wellness. Massage is a tool to help heal both the physical and emotional health. Whether it's stress, illness or simply to pamper yourself, the benefits of massage can be life changing. I would be honored to take that journey with you.
Communication is key. I need to know what you're feeling, experiencing and what you're looking to gain in order to best help you. In turn, I will explain the treatment and what you can expect to gain from it.
Should massage hurt? It's a myth that any form of massage, even deep tissue, should be painful to be effective. Although deep tissue, trigger point therapy and myfascial release therapy can cause soreness, your massage should never be painful.
Is it wrong to talk to my practitioner during the massage? No, it's not. Some modalities like sports massage, deep tissue or myfascial are a few types of massage that need more verbal feedback from you as the client. Also, sometimes during Swedish massage, some people may not zone out and relax as much and may chat a little. It's all down to what you are comfortable with.
What if I feel self conscious? Being self-conscious shouldn't keep you from booking your appointment. A professional massage therapist will be non-judgmental and focused on your muscles and nothing else. I have clients all shapes, sizes, genders and abilities. My goal as a massage therapist is to help you feel better whether you are seeing me for specific treatments or a relaxing Swedish massage.
Deep Tissue Massage reaches deeper layers of muscles. It is used to break down knots and relieve pressure points throughout the body. This massage is beneficial for athletes and those who sit or stand for long periods of time.
The goal of Swedish Massage is to melt away muscle tension and increase the blood flow to your heart. Swedish Massage is extremely therapeutic as it increases circulation and oxygen to the muscle tissue, increases oxygen levels in the blood and improves flexibility in the body.
Hot Stone Massage is often paired with Swedish Massage. Stones are heated and used with oils to sooth, warm, and massage your muscles. This allows your body to relax and release tension and stress.
Myofascial release focuses on relieving the tightness of the myofascial tissues in the body. Myofascial tissue connects and support your muscles. Through this technique, by using sustained pressure, the fascia is stretched and lengthened which alleviates the tightness.
